‘300: Rise of an Empire’ Gives Us Our First Look at the High Seas Epic
In case you forgot there's a '300' sequel on the way, we've got your first look at '300: Rise of an Empire,' which takes the action to the sea.
USA Today has a feature on the upcoming '300: Rise of an Empire,' a sorta-sequel that takes place during the events of '300.' This time, we follow Greek soldiers led by their general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) as they battle the Persians in the middle of the ocean. Though it's a new film with a new guy behind the camera, director Noam Murro says that it will have more in common with the first film than title alone, noting it "is tied visually to the original," but since the majority of the tale takes place on boats, "there is a whole different choreography of fighting and war."
Actress Eva Green stars as Artemesia, the second-in-command to Persian leader/God Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro, reprising his role from the first film), and the leader of the Persian naval army. She's got a little extra reason to be mad at the Greeks, since they killed her family when she was young.
And in case you were wondering about Zack Snyder's involvement, he co-wrote the script. Check out the first image from '300: Rise of an Empire' below, and get ready for major ship battle on August 2.
