The Crossroads Area Veteran Center will soon be offering free self-defense classes to female veterans, and wives and widows of veterans.

The classes are made possible through a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission.

The self-defense classes will be on 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays from March 8 to March 29 at 2707 N. Laurent St. There is space for 40 women.

Those interested in attending should go to the Crossroads Area Veteran Center located at 2805 N. Navarro St., Suite 501, in Victoria and ask for Sara Holland, a peer specialist, beforehand. They should bring their discharge papers or a Veterans Affairs card.
