What The New Harbor Bridge Means For Corpus Christi Residents

After driving to Corpus Christi recently, I saw that the new Harbor Bridge that is getting close to completion. This whole project is massive, with new infrastructure that will connect 181 with the Crosstown Expressway. So many new exits and bridges on top of the new Harbor Bridge Construction. There will now be an exit that will get you to Staples directly from 181.

The official Harbor Bridge ribbon cutting is Saturday, June 28.

It's finally opening! In fact, the southbound lanes will open Saturday, June 28 after the ribbon cutting, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. The ribbon cutting will be followed by a ceremonial motorcade to officially open the bridge. According to KIII TV in Corpus Christi, the northbound lanes are scheduled to open in early July.

Both bridges will be open at the same time for a while.

For a short time, both bridges will be open. If you are driving in from 181 and the Portland area, there will be a temporary detour.

The Harbor Bridge has taken almost ten years to construct.

Construction on the new bridge started in August 2016. When the bridge is complete, the bridge will have a clearance of 205 feet for vessels. The Harbor Bridge will be the tallest structure in south Texas standing at 538 feet tall, according to fdcrop.com.
