H-E-B Hands Out Tortillas at San Antonio Airport
If you flew out of San Antonio recently and thought you were hallucinating the smell of fresh tortillas, you weren’t. That was real and it came from the most Texas surprise ever.
H-E-B Handed Out 5,000 Fresh Tortillas at the San Antonio Airport
H-E-B rolled up with a full-on tortilla farewell campaign at the San Antonio International Airport, handing out thousands of their warm tortillas to travelers heading out of state.
This wasn’t a random PR stunt; a viral TikTok triggered it.
Blame TikTok for This Buttery Airport Moment
A creator named @annathecolossaltitan posted a video showing someone packing 200 H-E-B tortillas into their suitcase before flying out.
H-E-B saw the post and first responded:
Gotta keep those in the carry on. Don’t want to chance them getting “misplaced”.
They took it another step further by showing up at the airport the next week to surprise travelers with 5,000 fresh tortillas, warm and ready for takeoff. They even included info on nearby stores for travelers who didn’t want to leave empty-handed.
The Most Texas Goodbye Ever
Where other states give you a keychain or a stale pretzel, Texas gives you tortillas. If you’ve ever lived out of state, you know the tortilla cravings are real. So yes, people are now literally stockpiling H-E-B tortillas before getting on planes.
Where to Get Your Own Buttery Tortillas
Missed the airport handout? You can grab a fresh pack at any H-E-B store; some even have tortilla stations that’ll ruin all other tortillas for you, forever.
