Dangerous Feral Hog Tries Attacking Man in a Garage in Houston

Wild feral hogs are invading one Houston neighborhood, leaving residents and their pets vulnerable to attacks.

Carl White lives in a southeast Houston neighborhood with serious issues. White, who is confined to a wheelchair, was recently targeted for an attack by a feral hog. Luckily, his dog, Moose, alerted him of danger just in time.

White spoke to KHOU 11 and explained his encounter with a feral hog in his garage late at night: "I was sitting over in this spot, and [the hog] was coming full speed, looking right at me and fixing to mow me down."

He explained that Moose started barking and quickly came to his side, altering White of danger. He did not have much to defend himself at the moment but managed to grab an airsoft gun with an LED light attachment.

White explained that he managed to startle the hog at first, "But when I hit that light, it startled him and he turned a 180 right there, so close that I could smell him." However, the hog turned around again towards White.

That's when he began to shoot pellets, which finally did the trick. The hog scurried away but White admitted the situation had made him become more prepared.

"Just don't get yourself in a position where you're confronting or cornering them, because that's when they get nervous and come at you," White said. "But let them have an escape if they want to run away."

This is not the first time the residents in the area have encountered hogs. The residents in that particular area believe that the neighborhood's access to a nearby bayou allows the feral hogs to roam around and into the area to cause havoc.

White says the hogs have killed pets, confronted people and damaged property.
