Texas DoorDash Driver Stabbed, Carjacked After Helping Stranger

A Texas DoorDash driver was viciously stabbed multiple times and carjacked after trying to help a homeless man.

Jackson Oltmanns had just finished making his last delivery around 2 a.m. in Burleson, Texas when he decided to drive to a stop at a nearby Waffle House to grab a bite to eat. However, Oltmanns never expected to fight for his life on the way.

“I was approached in my car by a homeless man who appeared to be on drugs,” Oltmanns shared on his GoFundMe page. “He asked for money. I told him I didn’t have cash. He then told me he just wanted food."

The moment everything went wrong.

Oltmanns decided to help the man out and order him some food, however, that decision would unexpectedly backfire and as soon as Oltmanns stepped out of his vehicle, everything went wrong.

“He immediately began stabbing me,” Oltmanns recounted. “He tried to kill me, stabbing me at least 10 times. Luckily, I was able to defend myself for most of it. But the main wound that really got me the worst was to my face.”

Covered in blood, Oltmanns fought to stay conscious as the attacker stole his car and sped away. “I thought I was dead,” he said. “There was so much blood, but luckily, I’m still here.”

Police tracked down the suspect, 24-year-old Quindarius Cartwright, about 18 miles away in Fort Worth where they also located Oltmanns' stolen vehicle.

“I’m still dealing with some issues from the incident,” Oltmanns said. But through it all, he’s grateful to be alive and thankful for the community’s support, as seen in his GoFundMe campaign that has already raised over $1,900 to help with his recovery.

“I’m overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness. Thank you for all the support.”
