A terrified young woman was murdered after desperately trying to escape her violent boyfriend in North Harris County.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEADS TO MURDER

29-year-old Merseana Struggs tried to escape from her 34-year-old boyfriend, Nicholas Finley by running through an apartment complex and attempting to get into someone’s car.

Unfortunately, she was unable to do so and collapsed shortly after. At that moment, her boyfriend, armed with a pistol, allegedly stood over her and fired multiple shots into her body, killing her.

CHARGED WITH MURDER

After the shooting, Finley reportedly fled with her purse and vehicle. He was later apprehended and booked into the Harris County Jail on a capital murder charge.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stressed a concerning statistic, stating that intimate partner murders make up about 35% of all murders in unincorporated Harris County in 2024.

In a post on X, Gonzalez emphasized the importance of recognizing signs of abuse and taking a stand against violence. "Love shouldn’t hurt," he wrote. "We need to work together to ensure that individuals know how to plan for their safety and are aware of the resources available to them."
