The fishermen went out fishing in the Gulf of Mexico on March 24th. "They were trolling for marlin and the bluefin hooked on to the lure," said Crystal Oestreich. However, an unexpected creature got hooked on their line.

The crew was in for quite a battle when an incredibly massive bluefin tuna hooked onto the line. As they tried reeling in the enormous fish their rod broke. However, victory was still within reach. The crew fought for two hours, trying to reel the fish in.

Finally, the crew overpowered the fish and won the fight. Once on shore, the bluefin tuna was put on the scale and the number was off the charts. Coming in at a massive 676 pounds, it was no wonder it took 2 hours and a broken rod to bring in the colossal fish.

Photos show the incredible fish hung, showing truly how big the catch was. "The regulations for catching bluefin in the Gulf of Mexico is strict with only one per boat," Oestreich added. "It's not common to catch one because they are targeted and that big."

Once filleted, the tuna was portioned off to 14 different customers. Aside from the incredible bluefin catch, the crew also caught the maximum amount of yellowfin tuna, 11 wahoo fish, according to the Facebook post.
