Dodged a Bullet

The Crossroads caught a break after forecasts predicted some pretty hefty stuff as Tropical Storm Nicholas upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane as it approached land in Texas. Luckily for the Crossroads, Nicholas took a last-minute turn and we managed to get very minimal effects.

The Calm Before the Storm

Take it back to just hours before the storm hit; people on the coast reacted in many different ways. Some immediately prepared by stocking up on supplies, some hit the road to get away from the bad weather, and some hunkered down and braced for impact.

Just a Stroll on the Beach

One Galveston resident rolled with the storm in a completely different way. He went out and walked along the beach, looking quite relaxed and enjoying the calm before the storm.

However, his presence disturbed some passersby and residents on the beach. Maybe it was because they were worried about the storm hurting him or maybe it was because he was wearing a Michael Myers costume with props.

The Man Behind the Mask

Texas-based lawyer, Mark Metzger took a chilling stroll on the beach Monday as Nicholas approached the Lone Star state. Before heading out he posted a photo on his Facebook page asking his followers which costume he should wear for a little walk on the beach.

He explained it was just a little prank and he was just trying to lighten the moos and bring a little positivity on a gloomy day. He wrote on his profile, "Bringing positive vibes to the gloom and doom out there, generating some laughter, helping people crack a smile, and restoring our faith in humanity through humor is 100% what I’m about."

Horrified by the Horror Character

Unfortunately, some residents felt it was super inappropriate and called the cops on him. He ended up getting cited for disorderly conduct and said he was “still fuzzy on what exactly was illegal.”

No Regrets

Metzger thought about what he did and he decided, "So if taking a silly walk down the beach during a storm in a costume, and subsequently being arrested for disorderly conduct accomplished any of that .... then I'd do it again all day every day." Ahem to that brother.
