A Look Back at Awesome Shows at “Go Tejano Day” at Rodeo Houston

It's almost time for the 2025 Rodeo Houston! Which means we get to celebrate another "Go Tejano Day." Now the term "Go Tejano Day" has been to topic of controversy for years now.  However you feel about the acts that are booked on GTD is not wrong. Can we all appreciate that Rodeo Houston gives Mexican American's born in Texas their own day for Go Tejano Day! 

The 2025 Rodeo Houston lineup is about to be announced this week and includes dates for Spanish music. Regional Mexican on Sunday, March 9th and GO TEJANO DAY presented by Fiesta Mart on Sunday March 16th. We will know who is performing on Thursday, January 9,2025.

With that being said, let's take a look at some of the iconic Tejano shows from "Go Tejano Day" in the 1990s and 2000s.

SOME OF THE EPIC SHOWS OF GO TEJANO DAY AT RODEO HOUSTON OF THE 90S and 2000s

• Roberto Pulido Y Los Classicos in 1990
• Joe Lopez, Jimmy Gonzales Y Grupo Mazz performed in 1991.
• La Diferenzia and La Mafia back in 1996. La Mafia also performed in 1992 and 1998 at Rodeo Houston. Oscar from La Mafia has some strong feelings about this topic. I was at this show and it was INCREDIBLE!!!

• Limite in 1997: The group was a little Norteno at the time, however, they were hitting hard on Tejano radio.
• David Lee Garza Reunion in 1999 and it was epic! The show featured DLG, Emilio, Jay, Ram, and Oscar G and we can't forget about David Lee's father, Papa Tony. Marcos Orosco close out the night as the lead singer before all the lead singers came together for the finale.  This might be one of the most epic Tejano shows ever!
• Kumbia Kings in 2000 and 20002
• Jimmy Gonzales Y Grupo Mazz performed in 2001
• Los Tres Amigos: Little Joe, Ruben Ramos, and Roberto Pulido in 2003
• Jay Perez in 2006
• Of course, we can't forget about Selena Y Los Dinos Rodeo's performances!
