Just when you thought it was safe to buy dolls again…Nope. Here’s the first trailer for Annabelle 2, which, as the title suggests, is a sequel to last year’s relatively successful James Wan-produced spinoff of The Conjuring, featuring that damn creepy doll and her creepy antics. This time, she’s terrorizing a doll-maker, and that seems totally fair, to be honest, since he’s responsible for the creation of her kind and their endless suffering at the hands of ruthless children.

Like the first trailers for both Conjuring films, the one for Annabelle 2 offers a short, effective clip from a specific scene — Miranda Otto, playing the doll-maker’s wife, enters a room and tries to talk to a girl named Annabelle; instead, she gets a total spook-show despite her futile attempts to ward the haunted doll off with a cross. (Dolls are not vampires. Got it.)

The sequel, which was helmed by Lights Out director David F. Sandberg, is actually yet another prequel. Just as the first Annabelle film took place before the events of The Conjuring, this one takes us further back to the actual origins of the evil doll, which was said to be inhabited by the spirit of Annabelle Higgins, a little girl who was murdered.

Sounds fun! Annabelle 2 also stars Anthony LaPaglia and Stephanie Sigman, and hits theaters on May 19, 2017.
