Charlie Murphy of The Chappelle Show Passes Away at Age 57
"The Darkness" Charlie Murphy has passed away at age 57 after a battle with Leukemia.
Murphy, who is the older brother of actor/comedian Eddie Murphy, was a successful stand up comedian in his own right. He often toured the country with other comedians like Cedric The Entertainer, D.L. Hugley, and Eddie Griffin.
Murphy was probably most remembered for his popular skits on fellow comedian Dave Chappelle's show on Comedy Central such as the infamous "Partying with Prince" skit.
Murphy also co-wrote several of his brother Eddie's movies and co-starred in other movies including Are We There Yet and Black Jesus.
Murphy passed away at an NYC hospital. His publicist said he was currently going through Chemo for Leukemia.
Charlie once performed right here in Victoria at the Gecko a couple of years ago.
RIP Charlie.
