Check Out the San Antonio Zoo’s ‘On A Stick’ Festival
The next 5 weekends are a chance to chow down like a champ at the San Antonio Zoo and finally satisfy all your cravings for State Fair and Festival-style food that we all missed out on last year thanks to COVID-19.
Seriously, funnel cake is a part of summer. I can't recall seeing even one last year with so many events being canceled. Well, it's time to make up for an entire year of not having anything deep fried and served to you on a stick.
What is the 'On A Stick' Festival?
It's all in a name, and that is definitely the case with the 'On A Stick' Festival at the San Antonio Zoo. From April 23rd to May 24th, each weekend will be an opportunity to enjoy tons of menu options all served on a stick. Admission into the event is included with your Zoo admission but food and beverage tickets will be sold separately throughout the grounds. Enjoy a walk around the Zoo on a nice sunny Texas weekend while enjoying just about anything served on a stick.
'On A Stick' Festival Food Options
There will be 4 different realms inside the San Antonio Zoo's 'On A Stick' Festival.
- Zoo Fiesta
- Crocktoberfest
- State Fair
- Madri-Craw
The event really is your chance to go nuts with chicken on a stick, turkey legs, sausage on a stick, freshly-spun cotton candy and even more surprises. 'On A Stick' weekends will be a familiar event for some visitors. Get a sneak peek at some of the tasty treats served at past weekend events at the Zoo by checking out the video below.
If you just can't make it till Memorial Day without some tasty fried food on a stick, you have the next five weekends to feast while you tour the SA Zoo. Other options might include doing a few laps around Victoria seeking the Trevino's Food Truck which is always at Bootfest and other events with some great funnel cakes being served.
Fair Foodies also like to countdown the days to August when they usually have Street Food Weekend at Whataburger Field over in Corpus Christi. This is another blessed event featuring all things fair food and food trucks. Happy eating!
