Corpus Christi Congressman Vows to Repay Taxpayer Money for Sexual Harassment Settlement
These days, it seems like sexual harassment and abuse claims have gone crazy both from Hollywood, and in the world of politics. One area congressman is among those accused of harassment, and now he says he'll repay taxpayers the $84,000 paid to his accuser as a settlement.
Corpus Christi Republican Blake Farenthold settled with former spokeswoman Lauren Greene after being sued in 2014. That money came from the Office of Compliance, which pays out taxpayer dollars to settle workplace disputes on Capitol Hill, but this is the first time the funds have been used to settle a sexual harassment case in a number of years.
Politico reported Farenthold's settlement payment recently causing backlash from the public. As a result, Farenthold has said he would repay the money, and would take out a personal loan to do so.
