Dallas Cowboys Choose Defensive Player in First Round of NFL Draft
Yesterday was the first round of the 2018 NFL draft and the Dallas Cowboys chose to beef up their defense by selecting a linebacker.
Leighton Vander Esch out of Boise State University was the 19th pick in the first round, a choice that surprised some people who thought the team would go after a wide receiver since Dez Bryant was released recently.
Vander Esch is a 6'4" 255 pounder who was the Mountain West Player of the Year and was ranked 5th in the nation in tackles with 3 interceptions and 4 sacks last season at BSU.
As far as receiver needs, the Cowboys picked up 2 veterans in free agency, and some are predicting they'll look for a wide receiver in the 2nd or 3rd rounds of the draft.
