Flaco Jimenez Was Honored at the Grammy Awards

Reba performed "Trailblazer" at the Grammy's Sunday, and during her performance, images popped up on a screen of musical icons that have been lost over the past year. And Conjunto fans were pleasantly surprised by one of the late musicians honored.

Flaco Jimenez passed away at the age of 86 on July 31, 2025. I remember the news started to circulate around late in the evening. This brought back memories of when Emilio passed away. The circumstances were very similar. I was lying in bed scrolling when I learned the news.

A Victoria musician had ties to Flaco Jimenez.

A Victoria musician was requested to play at Flaco's funeral before his passing. Isaac DeLosSantos has the pleasure of sharing the stage with Flaco multiple times. Isaac met Flaco while recording an album at Flaco's home studio in San Antonio. After the two met, Isaac sat in with Flaco and shared the stage with Flaco for a few gigs.
