
Tejano and Conjunto Icon Flaco Jimenez Passes Away at 86
The Tejano and Conjunto world has lost an icon! Flaco Jimenez has passed away at the Age of 86. The news started to circulate around 10 p.m. Thursday. An official statement was issued by the family of Flaco: Arturo & Lisa Jimenez, Javier & Raquel Fernandez, Gilbert Jimenez, and Cynthia Jimenez.
Flaco learned to play the accordion from his dad.
Flaco Jimenez was born on March 11, 1939, in San Antonio. His real name is Leonardo "Flaco" Jimenez. Many don't know that Flaco's dad, Santiago Jimenez, was also a gifted accordion player. Flaco started playing with his dad at the age of 7! Flaco has five Grammy wins under his belt, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and countless other awards!
