Throwback Thursday: Footage from Jimmy’s Final Concert (Victoria)

One of the things that I love about social media is that the most random things pop up at the most random times. Here is one that fall under that category. It's video footage of his final concert before he passed away!  The concert took place at the Victoria Community Center Dome on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018. The lineup was Lucky Joe opening the show, Jimmy Gonzalez Y Grupo Mazz, and Ramon Ayala as the closer!

The footage is from a cell phone and the sound quality is not the greatest. However, it is awesome. You can see that Jimmy was setup on the floor while most of his band was on stage. The video was posted by Tejano Starz.

The Grammy Award-winning Jimmy Gonzalez of Grupo Mazz passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Methodists Hospital in San Antonio hospital from complications of diabetes. He was 67 years old when he passed. We miss you Jimmy and your music will live on forever.

Jimmy's music lives on.

Currently, Jimmy's son, Mike, is keeping his dad's music alive with his group, Mike and the Iconiczz. Right now, the Iconiczz are one of the hottest groups in Tejano music and have some incredible moments in Victoria.
At the Memorial Weekend Bash in 2024, Mike Gonzalez gets on the mic during Friday night's performance and says, 'Tonight's performance is an emotional one, my father played his last-ever show here in Victoria, Texas" They finish their set, and the crowd immediately starts shouting "otra!"
