Hall of Fame Baylor Coach Mulkey is Taking Her Talents to LSU

Hall of Fame coach Kim Mulkey has left the Baylor Bears Women's basketball team to return home and take over the LSU women’s basketball team. Mulkey, who led the Bears to the regional finals, where they lost against UConn last month, the ending was controversial.  Mulkey's overall resume with Baylor was impressive

In 21 years as the head coach at Baylor, Mulkey led the Lady Bears to four Final Fours, winning three national titles. Her teams reached the Elite Eight six times and the Sweet 16 on five other occasions. IMPRESSIVE!

She is now going back home to Lousiana. She was born just 50 miles outside Baton Rouge. So it only made sense to coach at LSU. She was announced as head coach on Monday afternoon as reported by KWTX.  Mulkey said “Gonna miss Waco. Gonna miss the fans. But I’m going home.”

Before coming to Baylor, Mulkey spent 19 years as a player or coach at Lousiana Tech. She brought them their first NCAA championship in 1982. She will now be back in her home state to call the shots for LSU's women's basketball team. To add to her already impressive list of Baylor accomplishments. She is the only woman to win national titles as a player, assistant, and head coach, the 58-year-old Mulkey comes to LSU after 21 seasons at Baylor.

She will leave Baylor as the all-time winningest coach in school history. Mulkey was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and is scheduled to be introduced by Michael Jordan at the upcoming ceremony. In 2000 Mulkey was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her accomplishments as a player.
