It's with a heavy heart that iconic Victoria Texas longest standing grocery store Dick's Food Store announces it is closing it's doors for good.

I was sent a screen shot last night of the announcement that the Dick family sent out on social media and my heart sank. I've lived in Victoria for over thirty years and have shopped off and on at Dick's every year I've lived here. I had the chance to interview the Dick family several years ago and walked away from that biographical piece just knowing the Dick family truly cares about family and community.

Here is their heartfelt social media post the family decided to send out last night. This could not have been an easy announcement.

Jp grew up in Victoria and pointed out on the show this morning that a great many of his friends worked at Dick's Food Store growing up. He started out sweeping the parking lot before being a bag boy and then finally he was promoted to produce. He says this proudly and it makes me smile. He even wrote an article in  as a tribute to his time there! You can read that article here.

Dick's truly was a family and it resonates with how proud Jp must have been as a young man who worked his way up the ranks. Did you work at Dick's growing up? Message us on the app and let us know what you did there. We're going to be sending messages to the Dick family all week as a way to say thank you for decades of service and good groceries to the Crossroads.

Dick's Food Store, you will be missed!
