Well, Texas tried to have spring but winter’s not quite done with us yet. Parts of Texas are getting ready for a chilly curveball this weekend, with up to two inches of snow possible.

According to the National Weather Service, snow could begin to fall around the Texas Panhandle just after midnight on Saturday and continue through 7 p.m., depending on how quickly the system moves through.

You're going to need to be extra careful because when you factor in the wind gusts that are expected to blow through, it's going to make visibility an issue while driving. The dangers don't stop there though, slick spots on overpasses and bridges could form.

If this feels like deja vu you’re not wrong; similar amounts of snow hit the area last month, but on the bright side, it made great content for social media.

Possible Cold Front Sliding South

While the Panhandle bundles up, other parts of Texas could feel the chilly effects too.

In Houston, the Saturday cold front could bring in severe weather like strong winds, hail, and an isolated tornado risk, according to Space City Weather.

Once the front clears out, expect cooler, breezy air to settle in:

  • Sunday Highs: Mid-60s
  • Sunday Night Lows: Upper 40s
  • Early Next Week: Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s

Although in true Texas fashion, if you're missing the heat, don't worry it won't be gone for long. You can expect the numbers to be back to normal by next Thursday.

TLDR: What You Really Need to Know:

Don't worry we skim too, here's the main points to know:

  • Panhandle Snow: Up to 2 inches possible on Saturday
  • Wind Gusts: 30–45 mph may limit visibility
  • Severe Weather: Slight risk in SE Texas, especially Houston
  • Cooler Temps: Mid-60s to low 40s across most of the state
  • Warm-Up: 80s return by Thursday
