A winter weather advisory is effect across Texas and that has me thinking, are tire chains legal to use in Texas?

Not to be dramatic but just in case we wake up to a winter wonderland can I break out those old chains in my garage? According to Texas law, the only way you can legally use chains is if the conditions are just right.
If roads are slippery because of weather conditions like ice or snow, then you are permitted to use tire chains to prevent your vehicle from skidding.
However, there's still a catch.
