The state of Texas is introducing new regulations concerning your pets. Under these new rules, if your dog is deemed a dangerous animal by animal control authorities, it will be registered in a statewide dangerous dog registry according to Hillcountry Post. Along with this registration, the dog’s owner must provide proof of liability insurance, among other details. This is part of a bill introduced by Representative Liz Compos, known as House Bill 2325.

While some Texans believe this law is unnecessary unless the dog has a history of attacks, others feel it is a helpful way to monitor potentially dangerous animals. Regardless, the intent is to keep communities safe. As long as dog owners continue to keep their pets on leashes and supervise them, the risks associated with dangerous dogs can be minimized.
