Here it is, the first recording from Tony Iommi since Black Sabbath played their final show nearly two years ago. It was previously announced that the legendary guitarist had made a contribution to the new Candlemass record, The Door to Doom, and now you can hear what he laid down on the new track "Astorolus - The Great Octopus."

The single is a bludgeoning dose of bleeding doom and effectively praises Iommi's riffing ethos, something Candlemass have done remarkably well over the last 30-plus years. If you have little patience, an essential virtue for listening to doom metal, you can jump to the three-minute mark in the player below to hear Iommi's solo.

"That he would even consider playing on one of my songs is a dream come true. I feel very blessed, and I tell you…to keep my mouth shut for a couple of months about it has been horrible. I just wanted to scream from the rooftops," bassist Leif Edling told Loudwire in a recent interview.

"We sent the management the song and got the thumbs up. Sometimes you have to aim high. You never know…," the bassist added.

The Door to Doom will be released on Feb. 22 through Napalm Records. Pre-order your copy of the album here.
