Live Rock Comes to Bootfest This Year
Every year when I see the Bootfest lineup I think, "why is it always only country music?" I get it. I mean, I work for a radio company that has 4 stations, one of which is KIXS 108, which is consistently #1 in the ratings so, I know it's a predominantly country music market, especially considering the fact that we are in Texas, but that doesn't mean there isn't an audience for rock and other genres. Take our Coors Light KLUB Classic Rock 106.9 Rocktober Street Dance from last year. We had a crowd that was larger than any of summer's street dances, that came out to see the 'Guns 'N' Roses' tribute band 'Guns 4 Roses.' They rocked like nobody's business, and the crowd was phenomenal! So, on my soapbox for live rock in Victoria, I am happy to announce that live rock is heading to this year's Bootfest.
As part of the city's largest free festival Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th in downtown Victoria, Friday night is rock night!
It starts with Victoria's premier blues band 'The Hot Attacks' at 6pm. The Journey tribute band 'Infinite Journey' rocks beginning at 7:15, Def Leppard tribute 'Def Leggend' takes the stage at 8:45, and AC/DC tribute band 'Back In Black'
And again, admission is FREE.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Saturday night, it's Texas country with Mason Lively, Cameran Nelson, William Clark Green, and Reckless Kelly.
So, I'd like to thank the people responsible for planning Bootfest for adding rock to the lineup this year. And for those of you that complain that there's nothing to do, and there's no live rock at these festivals, plan to get on out and enjoy it!
