A little bakery in Lufkin faced a huge backlash after it unveiled a batch of their heart-shaped, rainbow-iced cookies in honor of Pride Month. My daughter saw it on Twitter and Facebook on Thursday night and shared it with me. This one hit close to home for her because she goes to Stephen F Austin State University which is located just 20 minutes up the road in Nacogdoches.  We need more love and less hate in this world.

As reported by KXAN, the owners of Confections in Lufkin, say they received significant backlash after posting a photo of the cookies — including lost social media followers and, more troubling, canceled business. Here is a look at the social media post that caused backlash...

As reported by KXAN in Austin, Confections owners, sisters Dawn and Miranda, said one customer canceled a five-dozen cookie order that had already been baked, decorated, and was set to be picked up the following day.

But when news of the incident spread, Confections was met with yet another surprise: overwhelming support. The next day, the small bakery had a big line extending around the block. The unexpected outpouring was so great, they were forced to close early in order to meet demand. What an awesome outpouring of love.

The sisters say they appreciate the support and are doing their best to keep up. They’re also still baking the rainbow cookie. In the words of Confections owners, sisters Dawn and Miranda, “More love. Less hate. Always.”  Show them, love, by liking their Facebook page.
