‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Finally Gets a Release Date
There's been a long wait for 'Mad Max: Fury Road.' The last 'Max' film came out in 1985, while rumors of a fourth film have been building since 2003, when director George Miller first announced he had a script and was ready to start pre-production. Shooting commenced in the summer of 2012, but in the interim there's only been one picture from the set and little else. But now, finally, the film has a release date: May 15, 2015.
The last we heard about the picture it was going back for a round of reshoots to beef up the action sequences, but Warner Brothers and Miller have kept a tight lid on the production. We do know the film stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in this spin-off film where Hardy appears to be playing the same character previous inhabited by Mel Gibson.
That's still quite a ways out for the picture, which will be opening two weeks after 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron,' though well before many of the perceived gigantic franchises of that year. The one benefit 'Mad Max: Fury Road' has over most of these other pictures: it sounds like the majority of the film is in the can, and with that long a window before release, Warner Brothers can sell the heck out of it.
