Metallica Rocks Texas Food Banks with $75,000 Donation
Metallica is known for many things-being one of the biggest and most successful heavy metal bands of all time is just one that immediately comes to mind. They officially became Rock & Roll Hall of Famers back in 2009 and are best known for their insanely popularized songs like "Master of Puppets," "Enter Sandman," and "Nothing Else Matters." Even if you don't like Metallica, you listen to them; they are simply legends in the rock scene.
One lesser-known fact about Metallica is, they are quite the philanthropists. In 2017, the band created a nonprofit called 'All Within My Hands Foundation,' which is dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services, according to their website.
One recent initiative the band has taken hits close to home for Texans. The headbanging band's nonprofit foundation took part in efforts to help Texans recover after the severe winter storm that recently made a pitstop in our typically boiling hot state.
All Within My Hands tackles more than just food insecurity; they also have a pretty rockin' project called Metallica Scholars. All Within My Hands created this initiative to provide direct support to community colleges to improve their career and technical education programs.
Scholars are chosen and awarded with a scholarship to help further their careers as they begin to train and enter the workforce. What's more rock n' roll than empowering the next generation of metalheads?
