One of the Best Tejano Albums Ever: La Diferenza’s Self Titled Album

It's time to add to my list of the Best Tejano Albums ever. This is the self titled album from La Diferenzia in 1994.  Ricardo Castillon Y La Diferenzia took over the airwaves. I have always said that Ricardo Castellon has had one of the best voices in Tejano music and back in 1994 is when people took notice.

It was La Diferenzia's self-titled debut release from Arista - Texas.  Two of the singles from that album still live on as Tejano classics: 'Linda Chaparrita,' and 'Si Lo Quieres.' However, the entire album is absolutely fantastic. Even on the slower tracks on this album, you hear an amazing vocal range of Ricardo. Castillon's voice alongside the awesome arrangement of music and final produced products. Here is the track listing for a refresher.

  Diferenzia is back with new music for 2025. The upcoming album, titled Renacimiento del Phoenix, The album will feature 12 original tracks, each accompanied by a music video. The first two singles have already been released "Que Tropieza" and "Preciosa"

“We went back to our roots for this album,” Ricardo shared. “Over the last 15 years, I experimented with various sounds, but they never captured the true essence of La Diferenzia. I was navigating through a lot of different emotions during that time, but now La Diferenzia is back and stronger than ever. This is the sound that made La Diferenzia a household name in the ’90s!”
