Realignment for Crossroads Schools Mean New, Old Rivalries
Yesterday was the day when decisions on realignment were announced, and there are changes in store for South Texas schools.
In a meeting yesterday at the Region III Education Center, changes were announced that include moving Victoria East and West to District 15-5a, Division I, where they will face schools including Corpus Christi Carroll, King, Moody, Miller, Ray, Memorial and Flour Bluff. The district will consist of 9 teams.
Meanwhile in Cuero, the realignment means the Gobblers will be District 13-4A Division II, alongside Bandera, Geronimo, Navarro, Wimberly, Llano, and Austin Eastside memorial.
Other realignment moves include Wharton moving from Region IV to Region III Class 4A, Division II, El Campo and Bay City from Region III to Region IV, Class 4A, Division I. Yoakum, Edna, Hallettsville and Industrial will join Luling and Goliad in District 14-3A, Division I. Calhoun heads to District 15-5A to face Alice, Calallen, Tuloso-Midway, Floresville, Gregory-Portland, San Antonio Southside and Somerset.
Bloomington will stay in District 14-3A, Division II.
