Once again, it's time for our kids to go back to school! Kids are back in session for the Victoria Independent School District (VISD) on Wednesday, August 13. So now would be the perfect time for a refresher course on just how much tickets in a school zone will cost you. Fines have recently been increased by the state, so drivers know just how important it is to obey these laws.
How much will a school zone cost you in Victoria?
The base fine for being issued a ticket in a school zone is $305. This is for anyone speeding 1-20 mph over the speed limit in a school zone. Anyone caught speeding 21+ mph and over will pay $305 plus $3 for each additional mile. If you are caught on your mobile device in a school zone, you will be fined $330.
Be sure you stop for school buses!
This one is so important that the fine is astronomical! If you fail to stop for a school bus that is loading and/or unloading children, it is $810! All fees listed are courtesy of the Victoria Police Department.
