Solar-Powered Bikinis Putting a Charge Into Sunbathing
If you happen to see a young lass in a metallic-textured bikini this summer, that doesn't necessarily mean she's trying to make a fashion statement.
In fact, she might be using her beachwear to power up her cell phone.
Designer Andrew Schneider has invented a bikini that also acts a solar generator. The bikini reportedly soaks up the sun's rays and uses them to charge any gadget that has a USB connection.
According to Schneider, "I use 40 individual paper-thin flexible, photo-voltaic panels for each bikini. I sew them together over a normal bikini using soft-conductive thread."
Each handmade bikini will cost around $200. You can pre-order one here.
In case you were wondering, the Solar Bikini can be worn in the water. Just remember to unplug your phone before you jump in.
