Some people look forward to the next Marvel movie, some anticipate the newest Star Wars entry, and then there are people like me, who count down the days until the new Yorgos Lanthimos film. Finally, we have our very first trailer for The Killing of Sacred Deer, the latest twisted nightmare from the Greek filmmaker.
If you read up on the life of explorer Gertrude Bell, it’s abundantly clear that this is a woman whose story should be told. In 2003, The Guardian devoted an entire article to the influence her cartography had on the modern Middle East, with Bell practically drawing the country border of Iraq by her lonesome. And now audiences will be able to explore her legacy with Queen of the Desert (via Deadline), a new film starring Nicole Kidman and both written and directed by the legendary Werner Herzog.
Kidman and Fallon have previously met—all celebrities know each other, obviously—but while Fallon remembered their years-ago hang as a sort of weirdly casual thing, Kidman recalls it a bit differently. For Kidman, it was a romantic prospect, and the look on Fallon's face when he realizes what might have been is genuinely priceless. You really blew this one, Fallon.
Often the early months of the year offer few good movies, which made us nervous about Park Chan-wook's 'Stoker.' It's due out in a couple weeks, but word out of Sundance and other screenings has been great (we rather liked it ourselves). Now there's a featurette that talks about the film's Southern Gothic flavor.
Park Chan-wook's 'Stoker' premiered at Sundance this week, and the latest international trailer will make you even more jealous that you weren't there to see it early.
'Stoker,' the first English-language film by Korean director Park Chan-wook, will debut this weekend at the Sundance Film festival, and will be going out to theaters on March 1. But until then, here's a clip from the film in which Nicole Kidman talks about how she really feels about her own daughter.
Nicole Kidman’s ‘Stoker’ character won’t win any Mother of the Year awards -- as was apparent with the first footage of the film -- but Park Chan-wook’s suspenseful thriller could score some genre trophies if it plays its cards right.
