The State Fair Has Nothing on These Texas Ballpark Foods
State fairs are notorious for putting together some unusual foods. Take Deep Fried Chicken Noodle Soup on a Stick, Deep Fried Fruit Loops or the Funnel Cake Bacon Queso Burger, all available at the State Fair of Texas. Now, Major League Ballparks are getting into the act. It used to be a hot dog, nachos or peanuts were enough, but not anymore. Here a few items you'll find at Minute maid Park in Houston and Globe Life Park in Arlington.
If an ordinary chili dog isn't enough, how about a 2-foot long chili dog known as the Boomstick, the nearly one-foot in diameter Lay's Home Plate Chicken Sandwich ($27.50), the $10 Dilly Dog or, the Triple B Sandwich with bacon, brisket and bologna for $18. Keep in mind, these are big enough to feed several people.
Meanwhile at Minute Maid Park, Astros fans can chow down on a Sweet Chipotle Fried Chicken and Blue Cheese Waffle which is pretty self-explanatory or, how about a Chicken & Waffle Cone which is made of Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and honey mustard in a waffle cone. Wait, mashed potatoes? There's a Spam Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and of course your usual fare like hot dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jacks.
So, no matter which ballpark you're going to, you'll find some pretty unusual foods to choose from. I think I'll stick with your basic chili dog with mustard and onions.
