Currently, Tejano music is making a transition to the next generation of music, and West Texas is a big part of the equation. Two artists that come to mind are Jai Sterling and Grupo Asalto!

West Texas is making its mark on Tejano music.

Jai Sterling is from Big Spring, Texas, and brings his flavor to the Tejano genre with a smooth cumbia style. He recently enjoyed a big night at the 2026 6th Annual Premios Mundial with 5 nominations, including a big win for the Songwriter of the Year.
Jai's music is speaking to our next generation of Tejanos.
His music vibe is a change from the classic Tejano styles of David Lee, La Mafia, and Emilio. He is a prime example of music styles changing and progress, and we are here for it. What I love about his style is that it sounds young and appeals to the youth, our next generations of Tejano music fans.
His latest single, "Gracias," is now trending on KLUB Tejano 106.9 and is a collaboration with the Conjunto sounds of the monster musicians Pete and Mario Diaz from Los Monarcas.
Another catchy cumbia from Jai is a collaboration with 15-year-old accordion extraordinaire Elijah Ezequil, the "Loco" remix, which brings me to my next point: we have entered a collaboration phase in our industry. We can't wait for Jai's new album to drop later this year.

Grupo Asalto is also from West Texas.

Grupo Asalto is also from West Texas, specifically Snyder, and they are making a huge impact in the industry for 2026. Their new album "Con Amor O Sin Amor...Seguiremos" is on fire right now. Their latest single "Gracias a Ti" has just been released and is now trending on KLUB Tejano 106.9.
