Mega Millions mania is heating up! The next Mega Millions drawing takes place on Tuesday, July 28th, and the jackpot is now an estimated $8000 million, ranking as the 10th largest Mega Millions jackpot of all-time. The cash option is an estimated $344.2 million. This is the largest jackpot since November of 2025.
There have been 37 drawings since the last winning jackpot ticket was sold. Only two jackpots have been won so far in 2026. Before the March 17 Ohio jackpot win at $60 million, a $536 million prize was won in Illinois. It’s only the second time since Mega Millions began in 2002 that there have been just two jackpots awarded through July 24 in a given year. We love giving you the most random stats.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WIN:

Cash option: A one-time, lump-sum payment that is equal to all the cash in the Mega Millions jackpot prize pool. Minus taxes, of course.

Annuity option: The Mega Millions annuity is paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments. Each payment is 5% bigger than the previous one. This helps protect winners’ lifestyles and purchasing power in periods of inflation.
See more information about the annuity option.
