College Admissions Scandal Hits University of Texas

We've been hearing a lot of news about some celebrities and others who have bought their kid's way into some prestigious universities and now, you can add UT to the list of involved schools. According to a published report, the Longhorns men's tennis coach has been placed on administrative leave over an alleged bribe.

The report says that head coach Michael Center allegedly accepted a $100,000 bribe to help a student get into the Austin campus school as a tennis recruit. The documents from the FBI investigation went on to say that the student wasn't even a competitive tennis player.

In a written statement released yesterday, university spokesman J.B. Bird said the university had been made aware of the charges against the coach and has been placed on administrative leave until further notice. Bird said the university is cooperating fully with the investigation. Speaking to reporters, attorney Dan Cogdell who represents the coach said his client is innocent. Center has been the tennis coach at UT since 2000. The scandal has rocked well-known universities including UT, Stanford, Georgetown, Yake, Wake Forest and USC.
