It’s National Freezer Pop Day, So Take a Break and Chill
2020's been an absolute scorcher.
I don't mean that the temperatures have been unusually high.
I mean that we've all been tossed into a total dumpster fire that's melting our spirits into a puddle of despair and garbage juice.

More than ever, it's up to us to find any little thing in our daily lives that allows us to take a little break and escape from a reality slowly fading into a Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic hellscape.
Ok, maybe I'm being a little melodramatic, but can you blame me?
Anyway, today just happens to be National Freezer Pop Day. If anything can take you back to the halcyon days of your childhood, it's a freezer pop. Even if you grew up poor like me, chances are you had a bunch of them in the freezer because they were an inexpensive treat.
Seriously, a crate full of those things only cost your parents a few bucks, and we all had a favorite flavor. Of course, none of us really knew what those flavors were, so we just called them "red, blue, green", etc. (Grape and orange were the exceptions, of course.)
They were versatile, too. You could eat them frozen, drink them, use them as little ice swords, or squish the unfrozen packet while you watched cartoons. You know, something to keep your hands busy.
The downside was that you'd almost always end up with those little cuts in the crease of your lips because of the razor-sharp packaging, but that somehow added to the fun in some weird way.
You're never too grown up to love a good freezer pop. In fact, now you can have even more fun because you can make them with booze! (See video below.)
So do yourself a favor today and revisit a favorite childhood snack. Better yet, share one with your kid. You've made it halfway through one of the worst years in modern history. You deserve to chill out for a few minutes.
What's your favorite flavor/color freezer pop? I'm a fan of anything red or green.
