TX Governor Abbott And SXSW Butt Heads After A Social Media Post

The infamous Texas music festival, SXSW, and Texas governor, Greg Abbott are butting heads after Abbott told musicians "Don't come back," to Texas.

DOZENS OF MUSICIANS AND BANDS DROP OUT OF SXSW

Over 60 musicians drop out of performing during SXSW in protest against military ties to the war in the Middle East.

The U.S. Army is a sponsor of the music festival, however, many people believe this is an inappropriate sponsorship due to defense contractors like them who manufacture and supply weapons that are used against Palestinians.

TEXAS GOVERNOR GETS BACKLASH OVER SOCIAL MEDIA POST

The triggered Texas governor took to social media to direct a message to those musicians who are choosing to stand up for their beliefs saying, "Bye. Don’t come back," ending the statement with, "If you don’t like it, don’t come here."

The massive music festival quickly responded with:

"SXSW does not agree with Governor Abbott."

The infamous music festival understands and accepts the views held by those who have chosen to drop out, "We are an organization that welcomes diverse viewpoints."
