Watch the U.S. Finn National Championships this Weekend

Before the boats begin to arrive for the World Championships, let's get through Nationals this weekend. The U.S. Finn National Championships actually start today and the public is encouraged to get out and enjoy the weather and to watch the races this weekend along the Corpus Christi Marina. Finn races have been part of summer Olympic games going back a long time and always draw a great crowd. With Friday and Saturday looking sunny and dry, this would be a great weekend to go out and watch the boats race. The Sea breeze in Corpus is said to be a consistent 15 knots making this a great spot for Finns to race.

What put Corpus Christi Back on the Championship Map?

The wooden piers of the 90s have needed a lot of work over the years, and Corpus Christi has answered the call by pumping in over $20 million worth of renovations to the marina. This has allowed for most of the floating docs to be replaced and brings the marina closer to world-class standing for events like these.

Things to Know Before You Go

The U.S. Finn National Championships are open to the public this weekend. You can head down to the bayfront and enjoy the races beginning Thursday afternoon. Races on Friday begin at noon with the awards ceremony coming up on Sunday.

As you can see, parking near the marina will not be hard to find.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
