Did you know we were once The City of Roses?

Victoria was once known as the City of Roses. We were once known for residents banding together and growing roses throughout the city, making Victoria more attractive (not to mention smelling amazing) for guests and neighbors alike. We have a Memorial Rose Garden we continue to preserve and enjoy today.

Now is our chance to band together, and make the Crossroads a mean green city machine with a free event to inspire each of us to bring nature home, clean the air and beautify our fine city by planting and caring for trees!

It's the Bringing Nature Home event, brought to you by the movers and shakers at Victoria Parks and Recreation and the Victoria County Master Gardeners Association as well as the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension.

But First, Pop Up Parks

Have you noticed in the last few months how active our Victoria Parks and Recreation has been with new events throughout the community? Here is something you might not have read yet, so click the button below to get the full scoop on one of the latest incentives by Parks and Rec called " Pop Up Park" where they bring the park to you!

Bringing Nature Home Event Is Free to the Public and kids 6+ are welcome.

Bringing Nature Home will be free to the public and located at the Victoria Community Center Annex on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. This event is all about trees and tree growing tips in the community. Our very own, Jason Alfaro, the Director of Victoria Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting the presentation from 6 until 7:30 pm.VCMGA is providing kid activities for kids 6 to 12 too! Activities include insect bingo for 9-12 year-olds, creating an insect for 6-8 year-olds and making insect headbands.

There are many ways you can bring " nature home" and you can start by attending the free Bring Nature Home event, making Victoria a mean green small city machine!
