Raulito Navaira is Recovering From Emergency Spinal Surgery

Raulito underwent emergency Spinal surgery and has started the long road to recovery. Destiny, Raulito's daughter issued the following statement via Facebook. Our prayers are with the Navaira family.

Destiny has confirmed that Raulito's recovery will be long and require around the clock care. She has setup a GoFundMe and ask that we come together for someone who is always ready to support and give a helping hand. Click for the link for the GoFundMe.

Raulito rose to stardom alongside his Brother Emilio in the early 90s. Together they electrified crowds with the iconic phrase "Shoot It" and dance moves that would make the crowd go crazy. The below picture is from their performance at Sun Valley Ranch in Victoria in the 90s.

When Emilio and Raulito sold out the Sun Valley Ranch in Victoria, Texas.

I was at that dance and If I recall correctly, doors opened at 7 o'clock for that dance. My friends and I were near the front of the line about 10 people deep. By the time the doors opened at 8, there was a line of people all the way out to Cuero Highway. Not to mention cars parked up and down Highway 87. Who remembers those days?

This show was right around the time that Emilio crossed over to Country. For a Crossover Tejano artist, his music did very well on the Country charts with 'It's Not the End of the World' peaking at #27 and 'Even If I Tried' peaking at #41. He did play those songs and most of his Country hits that night but Emilio's Tejano and Proud roots was the focal point of this show.

If you were a true Tejano fan you know an Emilio show did not come without his brother Raulito' and the Legendary 'Shoot It' dance move.  From 'Como Le Hare,' to' Fijate Mama' and 'Juntos' it's like the crowd knew every word to every song on that night. What an incredible night that I remember to this day. We love you, Raulito.
