Tejano Music on Showcase for Texas Country Music Awards Show
The Tejano category has been added to the Texas Country Music Association Award Show. The introduction of the new Tejano category will be at the 2024 Texas Country Music Awards this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. This category recognizes the top Tejano artists and bands that have significantly contributed to the music industry over the past year by playing shows and releasing current music. Tejano music will help kick off “Texas Country Music Weekend” in the Stockyards beginning Friday, November 8.
Tejano Nation reports The introduction of the Tejano category was spearheaded by TCMA President and Founder Linda Wilson, with assistance from three-time Grammy-winning Tejano and Country artist, Sunny Sauceda.

“It’s been something that I’ve been thinking about doing for a couple of years,” Wilson tells Tejano Nation. “It’s personal for me, I like, I went to all the quinceaneras, I went to all the Hispanic weddings. I was around during the Tejano days — the Selena days. It’s something that I do have some history with, which is why I wanted to do that.”
Nominees for the inaugural category include Art Tigerina, Chente Barrera, Grupo Stampede, Jay Perez, and Sunny Sauceda. Winners will be announced at the 2024 Texas Country Music Awards, which will take place on Sunday, November 10th, at the World’s Largest Honky Tonk, Billy Bob’s Texas, located in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards.
