Texas is Making an Appearance at the 2024 World Series
Texas teams might be out, but the Lone Star State is well-represented in this year's Dodgers-Yankees World Series! Familiar Texas names will take the field, from catchers to coaches, Texas is well-represented in the dugouts.
Los Angeles Dodgers:
- Anthony Banda (LHP): Banda, from Corpus Christi, played for the Hooks during his time in the minors. His development there helped propel him to the majors, and he now represents Texas on the big stage.
- Ryan Brasier (RHP): Born in Wichita Falls, Brasier attended Rider High School and later played for Weatherford College. He was drafted by the Angels and has since become a vital member of the Dodgers’ bullpen.
- Michael Kopech (RHP): A Longview native, Kopech gained attention in high school before being drafted in the first round by the Red Sox.
- Max Muncy (3B): From Midland, Muncy graduated from Keller High School and played at Baylor before being drafted by the Athletics.
New York Yankees:
- Jose Trevino (C): Born in Corpus Christi, Trevino was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2014. His journey to the Yankees included standout performances, making him a beloved figure in Texas baseball.
- Trent Grisham (CF): Grisham excelled in multiple sports at Richland High School. After being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers, he has made significant contributions to the Yankees.
Coaching Staff:
- Mark Prior (Pitching Coach): Mark Prior played for the Texas Rangers in the minors, throwing scoreless innings for the Triple-A RedHawks. He later chose free agency and now brings his experience to the Dodgers as their pitching coach.
- Danny Lehmann (Bench Coach): A graduate of The Woodlands High School, Lehmann played college baseball at Rice before being drafted.
- Josh Bard (Bullpen Coach): An All-American catcher from Texas Tech, Bard was drafted by the Rockies and has since transitioned to coaching.
