Texas Teen Found With $9 Thousand in Counterfeit Bills

In a story reported by News 4 San Antonio, Nineteen-year-old Ramon Rodriguez was arrested in Eagle Pass(Maverick Country). It was a routine traffic stop when deputies found the counterfeit bills inside a package and printed on the money was the phrase 'motion picture use only.'  However, if you just take a quick glance it looks pretty legit. Deputies believe that some of these bills had already been used in the Eagle Pass area. Take a look at the counterfeit bills in the photos below.

As reported by NEWS4SA, it is not against the low to have prop money, it is, of course, against the law to try to use it to try and buy something. Ramon Rodriguez and his three friends that were taken into custody were all released to their parents.

Just last week, two people were arrested in San Antonio and accused of manufacturing and spending over $20,000 in counterfeit money.  Be sure you check your bills before you put them in your register.

Here are a couple of things you can do to protect yourself from counterfeit money:

CHECK THE WATERMARK:

• The watermark should only be visible when you hold the bill up to the light.
  • The watermark should be on the right side of the bill.
  • If the watermark is a face, it should exactly match the face on the bill. Sometimes counterfeits bleach lower bills and reprint them with higher values, in which case the face wouldn’t match the watermark.

LOOK FOR BLURRY PRINT:
