There is a new pro football league in town. It's the Alliance of American Football and although they've played seven games of their inaugural season, you might not have noticed unless you were paying attention. I love pro football, so I guarantee you I have.

I've seen these pro leagues come and go, the USFL, the XFL, even the NFL strike season, I've watched them all. While the best talent is in the NFL of course, but I've been impressed with what I've seen in the AAF, and have watched our closest team to root for, the San Antonio Commanders, and I have been pleasantly surprised.

The Commanders are led by quarterback Logan Woodside, who played college ball in Toledo and had some pretty impressive numbers there before he was redshirted. Playing for the Commanders, he's looked pretty good. This season, he has thrown for 1353 yards with 7 TDs and 7 INTs, but he's looked pretty good overall and the Commanders have won 4-in-a-row, 3 on the road. They returned home to the Alamodome yesterday to beat the Salt Lake Stallions 19-15 in front of about 30,000 fans.

Both teams have pretty good defenses and Woodside was sacked 4 times and was injured. He was replaced by Marquise Williams who also suffered 2 sacks. There are a few good running backs and receivers on the Commander's roster including WR MeKale McKay who has made some pretty spectacular catches this season.

The Commanders lead the Western Conference at 5-2, the second-best record in the league behind the 6-1 Orlando Apollos, who play in the Eastern Conference.

Only 3 regular season games remain on the season, and the playoffs are the weekend of April 21st with the championship game on April 27th.

Here are the highlights of the game.
