New Football League, New Opportunity for Goliad QB

The Goliad Tigers know the name Dalton Sturm from when he played quarterback for the team. Fans who have followed his journey since high school also know him from his college career at UTSA where he walked on and became a starter in his sophomore year.  Sturm went on to sign with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent last May, only to be released that same month. He then had a workout with the Carolina Panthers but that didn't pan out. Now Sturm will be playing pro football for San Antonio in the upcoming inaugural season of the Commanders in the Alliance of American Football.

Set to play in the new 8 team league, Sturm was drafted in the 4th round of the league's draft in November. Sturm still has dreams of making an NFL team, and the new spring league will allow him to have that opportunity.

Sturm finished his college career at UTSA as the team's all-time passing leader in efficiency and with single-season records for single-game passing yards, touchdowns, efficiency and total offense.

The San Antonio Commanders join the Alliance of American Football with 7 other teams: The Arizona Hotshots,  Atlanta Legends, Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Orlando Apollos, Salt Lake Stallions and the San Diego Fleet.

The Commanders kick off their season against the San Diego Fleet at the Alamodome on February 9th.
