Victoria Police Department to Host “Midnight’ Basketball

What a really cool thing for the Victoria Police Department to do. The Victoria Police Department is partnering with the Victoria College men’s basketball team to host its first “Midnight Basketball,” a free mini basketball camp, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Victoria Youth Complex Basketball Court to continue building relationships between VPD officers and Victoria’s youth.

Members of the Victoria Police Department and the Victoria College men’s basketball team will teach participants the basic skills and drills of basketball. Participants must be between the ages of 10 & 17 and register at victoriapd.com.

Guardians must complete a waiver at the time of drop-off and registration. The department will provide basketballs, dinner and drinks.

This event is presented by Whataburger and Del Papa Distributing. 

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT:

The Victoria Police Department’s Community Engagement Unit is inviting Victoria neighborhoods and apartment complexes to participate in National Night Out, an evening of block parties planned to strengthen police-community relations and improve neighborhood camaraderie.

National Night Out 2022 will be Tuesday, Oct 4.

Residents who would like to host a block party and receive a visit from first responders should contact the Community Engagement Unit at 361-485-3808 or PoliceCEU@victoriatx.gov.

“If you’ve had a party before, we want you back, and if this is your first year to participate, we want to help,” said Officer John Turner.
