Drug Take Back Program a Big Success
Each year, the Victoria County Sheriff's Office teams up with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Victoria Environmental Services to offer a safe, anonymous way to dispose of old, unused expired prescription and over the counter meds that might otherwise end up contaminating the water supply, the landfill or even worse, getting in the hands of children. Well, we're happy to report that this year's program was a big success.
In a letter to the editor in the Victoria Advocate, Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor reported that this year, all records of participation were broken. The Sheriff said that 1,346 pounds of old drugs were collected, which amounts to 3 times as much as the average of previous collections.
Thanks to everybody that made this twice-a-year program a bigger success than ever!
