Young Texas Students Terrified As Gun is Shot Inside School Bus

"I was so scared, that's what I was thinking."  These are the words from a young boy who described what it was like when a gun was shot inside his school bus.

GUNFIRE ABOARD A SCHOOL BUS

A school bus carrying elementary students came to a quick stop after a gun was shot inside. "I heard a big shot and everybody started to go to the back of the bus," Izaak Perez, one of the students aboard the bus explained.

Police say a student fired a shot into the back of a seat as a bus pulled into Jefferson Elementary. The bus driver quickly took the gun away and the student was taken off campus. 

PARENTS MAY FACE CHARGES

The student will not face charges, however, police officials say the parents could. According to Seguin Chief of Police, Jason Brady, Charges could range from "Making a firearm accessible to a child to child endangerment so your range could be anywhere from a class C to a state jail felony."

POLICY CHANGES MAY BE MADE SOON

 School districts could be changing policies after the incident. "We have eliminated the requirement from elementary when we first made that decision. but I think it is something we are going to strongly consider when moving forward." Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez explained.

The young student Izaak Perez also suggests changes be made, "There should be some clear backpacks to make sure there's no dangerous stuff in it."

PARENTS NEED TO LOCK UP WEAPONS

The superintendent is pleading with parents to keep their guns locked up.  "My request and plea to parents everywhere is to take your guns, all forms of weapons locked up and safe from children."
